Krystle is a native of Jersey City but proudly claims Newark, New Jersey as her home for the past 11years. Krystle has dedicated her gifts and leadership skills to her community and family. Those talents have yielded her many awards, of which are: a Mayoral Citation from the late Glenn D. Cunningham, a Woman of Hudson County award from Councilwoman Viola Richardson and the Mary McCleod Bethune award from the NAACP of Hudson County, to name a few.
Krystle also volunteered her time weekly for 7 years ending around 2014, to help at-risk teenagers. While studying to become a realtor, she has been licensed for the past 10 years. Although she is a strong believer in Christ, trouble struck her home. While coming home from work one evening, Krystle was sexually assaulted by a coworker, who she considered to be friendly with. She calls this event, the moment that flipped her world upside down.
She was devastated and embarrassed but most of all she had feelings of guilt – guilty that she should’ve seen it coming. She often questioned, “why did I let him in my home?” Those feelings were too difficult for her to bear most days. She didn’t eat much, couldn’t sleep, so she began drinking. She didn’t realize she had a problem until she threw away her 2nd bottle of wine and heard the ‘clanks’ it made – it was only 1pm in the afternoon. Krystle needed help and quickly. She began working with a therapist, seeking help from Christ and the church. Daily, her faith grew as she desired to walk closely with God.
A couple of years later, she got married to a close friend and they have two lovely boys. One day, as Krystle was seeking the Lord for help, the Lord made it clear to her to use her talents He gave her and that’s what she did. She wrote and sung a song. She cannot wait to continue writing and singing to see how the Lord will use her gifts to encourage His people. She has many other accomplishments that bring her great joy, like singing on stage at Newark Symphony Hall, at the Lincoln Park Festival in Newark, or starring in stage plays. She also sang at The Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey twice, and was the background singer for the legendary Joe Piscopo. However, her biggest accomplishment is being a wife and a mom. Without her strong faith in God and her supportive family, none of this would be possible or worth it. So, she gives the Lord – her praise.
