Ronnie Laws has redefined the sound of contemporary jazz, funk, and soul, creating melodies that became the blueprint for much of today’s popular music.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Ronnie Laws grew up in a deeply musical household guided by his mother, Miola Laws who was a choir director and organist whose love of gospel, harmony, and spiritual expression shaped the creative foundation for her children. From that nurturing environment came one of music’s most talented families including Hubert Laws, Eloise Laws, and Debra Laws. Each of whomhas made significant contributions to jazz, R&B;, and popular music.

Eloise Laverne Laws was born in Houston, Texas, as the fourth of eight children of Miola Luverta Donahue and Hubert Laws, Sr.
Born into a family of musicians, her siblings include flutist Hubert, saxophonist Ronnie, and vocalist Debra. Eloise studied music at Texas Southern University and in1965 she won a national talent contest from CBS Television Networks and received a Fellowship that took her from Houston to New York where she studied music, dance and acting. While with CBS Television she performed on various network television shows and was offered a CBS recording contract from Clive Davis.

Barry Burford Singer, Tenor-Baritone.
Once sang with The Nathan Schaeffer Corral also attended Chicago’s famed Harlan High School. During the mid 1970’s Barry was a session singer, studio singer and a backing vocalist for his good friend Bobby Womack. In the early 1980’s Barry, his brother Kevin Burford and Charles Reilly formed the group Nimbiss and recorded on their own record labels FullScope Records & Shy – Backed Records. Barry went on to become a member of The New Lost Generation and Maurice & ET Group with Eddie Thomas (Curtom Records) and Maurice Jackson (The Independents)

Wali Ali went on to become a member of the Original Funk Brothers until 1972 when Motown moved to L.A. While in Los Angeles he became the Lead Guitarist for the Temptations, Eddie Kendricks, Teena Marie, Rick James & Patrice Rushen among others. Wali Ali also toured as guitarist with Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, and Glady’s Knight.
